One Hand Typing

Best-day-ever, #6.

I'm sitting in bed with a computer in my lap and a sleeping newborn on one arm. I'm so happy that I can barely keep from crying. She's like a drug, a bliss-inducing-endorphine-pump, and the main side effect is a remarkable Zen understanding that this very moment, this instant, is the most precious thing in the universe.

After everything we went through to get her here, I was afraid that I would have my happiness always tempered by fears for her well-being. But that hasn't been the case. I've been getting the full, unadulterated, joy of her and her existence and I am thankful for it. Looking at her, feeling her breath and the warmth of her body, I can think only of how wonderful it all is.

Even the poop.

Home sweet home

Zoe was born at 12:55pm, weighing 7lbs even and measuring 20 3/4". Mommy recovered very quickly and completely. Baby is doing great and has gotten feeding, sleeping, and voiding down cold. Hospital staff were outstanding and we are delighted to be home now. Sleeping is easier than expected, but there still isn't quite enough of it for anyone over 6 days old.

Today is the Day!!!

Today will be Zoë's birthday. We just can't believe that it is here, that we made it and will get to see her in just a few hours. Pictures will go up, and impressions written down, but it is going to be a while.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible.

One more week!

Just one more week to go before we get this little bladder-stomper on the outside. We were joking about spending all our time watching BabyTV in a few more days, just watching her do whatever she's going to do. We've got our bags packed just in case she decides not to wait around until Wednesday, but apart from some pretty intense nesting yesterday we don't see any signs she'll get here early. We've got our last real doctor visit tomorrow, then the grandmothers arrive over the weekend.

It is still hard to believe that we've made it here, and that we will actually have our baby. It is also hard to imagine not having a pregnant wife, but I'm sure we'll get used to both.

1 Month and Counting

Today, we are just one month away from Zoë's arrival. Lists are made, checked twice (or more, if you're a certain someone) and we just have to wait for a little bit more. The good news is that neither one of us can really sleep well, so it just makes it that much better.
